Cisco Qualified Specialist: These are basic certifications that demonstrate proficiency in specific technology roles, solutions, or technology areas. There are currently 10 levels of certification available. These include:
Access Routing and LAN Switching Certification
Cable Communications Certification
Content Networking Certification
IP Telephony Certification
Multiservice Switching Certification
Network Management Certification
Optical Certification
Public Access Certification
VPN and Security Certification
Wireless LAN Certification
Cisco Associate Certification: There are two types of associate certifications, the CCDA and the CCNA. Each of these indicates the next level of expertise, indicating a basic level of networking expertise with Cisco products across a wide range of possible applications and protocols.
Cisco Professional Certifications:: There are four types of professional certifications, the CCDP, CCIP, CCNP, and the CCSP. These demonstrate an advanced level of expertise in the design, implementation and troubleshoooting of sophisticated Cisco network architectures.
Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert: This is the highest level of demonstrated expertise. Individuals with this certification are the ones capable of handling the most challenging network design, implementation, and troubleshooting assignments. In 2003 a Certification Magazine survey found that the average salary for those with a CCIE was $96,870.
Schools Offering Cisco Training: Many schools offer Cisco training. In this training you will take courses that help you prepare for the various Cisco certifications. In addition to assisting you in obtaining certification, Cisco training will provide you with knowledge and skills that will be applicable in your job.
